How Long Did It Take?

  1. For your period to return after giving birth (for breast feeding mamas)? Going on 15 months now...still no sign of AF. Not that I'm complaining...
  2. For your tatas to return to their previous size or rather, new shrunken deflated size, after weaning from breast feeding? I still haven't bought any new bras and I just can't sink money into expensive pieces of clothing that will (could?) be rendered useless soon.
  3. For your body temperature to adjust? Before I got pregnant I was always cold. Then, I was carrying around a nice heater for 8 months so I figured it was the babies. Then I gave birth and was still not cold and I figured it was the hormones. Then I continued to breast feed and figured it was still the hormones. I couldn't even wear sweaters this past winter because I was too hot and normally I can only wear sweaters. Now, I'm weaning--BFing 3 x day--and I'm still pretty warm. Not hot. Not like that. Just, a whole lot warmer than ever before. I look around on the playground and realize I'm the only one who has removed her jacket. And folks, I'm a teeny thing. Anyone else experience this? Did it ever change or is this my new normal?? Am I going to hate summer?? I've never been 'not cold' unless I'm near the equator.

Period came back around 13 months. Dam it is annoying. You nursing twins three times a day is like us with one baby nursing six. Maybe it is a perk with having twins.

1. period came back at 11 months. (weaned at 13 months.)
2. i'd say about two months after baby weaned.
3. same as #2.

funny how the body works... :o)

I only breastfed for about 6 weeks, so I can only speak to the last one, but I'm only just recently ALMOST back to normal. Still a hair warmer than I used to be, but not like before. Last summer was hell. Hoping that it took so long due to residual birthing hormones, and so it'll be much faster for you.

Well....my babies are 2, nearing 3...and nothing has returned to the way it once was. temp. tits. ass. nope. it's all still extremely fucked up.

1. With my singleton, AF returned at 4 months. With the twins, 6 months. (Breastfed all of them for at least a year.) Some women don't get it back until they have completely weaned their munchkins, guess you are a lucky one!

2. My boobs deflated immediately. In fact, I'd say they were back down to teeny tiny in the last few weeks of BFing, when the kiddo(s) were only getting a few ounces a day.

3. Hmmm, interesting. Can't say I noticed a change in my body temp at all!

okay I didn't bf past 27 days but my temperature is also a lot higher after my pregnancy. I'm definitely not as cold as I once was which is why I'm LOVING the cooler weather in Jhb at the moment.

First of all, celebrate no AF! I got mine when chunk was 6weeks old (so 2 weeks past my due date)! I am the earliest example I know and I hate it. I bf for 14 months past getting my period and there were times that it honestly hurt and made me cramp more. Being that I just starting weaning this week, my boobs are already almost to their regular size, although I have been able to fit into pre-bf'ing bras for about 2 months. I am always hot! Always have been and always will be I guess, so I am no help with the temperature issue.

1. Interesting... I've been BFing my twins for 10 months, and no period.

2.Last month, I had a bad allergic reaction and needed to cut back on nursing. The benadryl I took also cut my milk supply, we used up our whole freezer stash! At the end of that week, I was back in my prepregnancy bras, but now that we're back to nursing 4 times per day + pumping, the bras are a bit tight again.

3. Haven't turned the heat on in my room all winter. W sleeps with an extra duvet as I won't let him use heat in the room!

1.Been BFing for 15 months and still no period. I wouldn't mind except we are thinking about TTC #2 and it's kind of necessary for that...

2. Tatas are still giant (see #1 above).

3. Didn't notice a difference there during or after pregnancy. I always tend to run hot (and DW cold, unfortunately).

1) Mine came back around 11 months, but that's when L started weaning (down to 2-3 feedings a day).

2) Mine are bigger by a cup size (up from D to DD - sweet mother of god) and show no signs of changing. L has been weaned for 2 months.

3) I totally had the warmth thing for months. I think I've readjusted ;)

When I stopped pumping, AF came back within a week. At that point, I was only nursing 2x a day b/c I work full time. And the boobs... oh the boobs. They shrunk, sagged, flopped and are just generally not pretty. It probably took about 4-6 months for them to stop shrinking. I went to Nordstrom's and had a great bra fitting so they look good under clothing now. :)
And as far as being warmer than normal... I haven't nursed for about 18 months and I'm still much warmer than normal. I don't know if pregnancy readjusts your body temp or what but I've actually thought that maybe I'm going through pre-menopause.

Late to the conversation, but...

1. AF came back while I was still BF, at 4 months pp?

2. My boobs were huge to begin with and by the time I stopped BFing at 6 months, my pre-pregnancy bras fit. My band size went up with pregnancy and the accompanying weight gain, but my cup size only went up 1 and then back down.

3. I was warm during pregnancy and then for the first 6 weeks PP, although it was summer, too. By the time I went back to work at 12 weeks pp, my temp was back to normal. It sure was nice to not be cold the winter I was pregnant, though!

I'm so glad you asked this, because I've been wondering myself. It's great to hear everyone's responses.
I bought one (ONE) nursing bra and have been living in it and the four increasingly ratty nursing tanks. I have like 3 tops that I feel comfortable wearing--like you, I just can't spend any money when I know (or hope) that my boobs will go back down. I miss my tinies!
