Seriously Broken Update

Yep, it's mastitis. It came on fast.
Fever was 101.5 an hour ago and now 102.4.
Called OB who called in RX which I will take for 10 days.

Then I called LC who said I can still BF, but do it as normal--when the boys eat. Then pump afterwards to empty the breast.
Woohoo. I can get some sleep!

HN is staying late and doing bedtime routine, thank god for her. No date night this week.

So dizzy. So cold. This bites.
The good news is that the broken titty is less lumpy after Whoop Whoop stayed on for an hour.

Thanks for all of your comments.

PS. I'd read about the comb/hot shower thing and tried that this morning. No dice.

Mastitis sucks. I got that too when the twins were just a few weeks old, I was exhausted and shivering, not fun. But the good news is the script starts to work after a few days so hang in there.

Gosh rest up as much as you can Puffer. Go Whoop Whoop! Keep up those long nursing sessions and empty that breast.

omg i feel your pain! I get mastitis every month, it's so annoying. I remember feeling like id been hit by a truck, and being super cold, too. Luckily the meds work great, and usually after 4 days I feel much better. I hope you are feeling better now, and I am so psyched for your GG success! So cool!

Also, I keep meaning to send a message regarding your previous post about being worn out, breastfeeding nonstop, etc. I started to suffer PPD while trying to breastfeed, and I eventually just went to pumping. It allowed me to BF when I felt capable, but also allow my partner to feed Samantha. Plus with pumping I could pump on my schedule, and always have milk ready for samantha.

I really do feel you should get some babysitters, and give yourself a break. Also, we offer about 3-4oz of formula a day, since about 4 weeks. I think our culture has built up formula to be so evil, like it's feeding your baby battery acid, but formula is actually really good. Not as good as bm, but still good. If you are up for it, i would recommend having Chicken (or you) formula feed just once a day, if that helps. Especially before bedtime, so your pups will sleep better. You truly need a break I wish I lived closer because id offer to babysit for a few days/nights to give you a break!

If you decide to allow just one feeding of formula a day, it will really improve your mood, your mental/physical state. You DO need a break. Im worried about you. *hugs* What i can say from my own experience is - once we agreed to do formula once a day, the PPD went away, and I was able to enjoy my baby so much more......versus the stress of trying to BF all the time. Between pumping and a formula feed, i felt 100x better.

I know youll do whatever is best for your situation, just wanted to offer some assvice. :) love ya and am thinking about you!
