I don't even know where to start. We are all doing great, but oh so busy. I've been nanny free for over 3 weeks now and while most days are great (really!) the last two have made me crazy. Granted I put myself in some stressful situations in trying to be twin supermom and keeping up with my mom friends (with singletons) going to concerts and fountains and easy-with-one-kid-but-insane-with-twins stuff.
I know there are those who disagree with me, but if you don't have twins, you just don't get it.
Doubt me? Take my boys to the playground for an hour and get back to me on your thoughts.
W2, is high insane energy. He is hard, hard work and he has been since day 1! He does not stop. The boy is intense and unless you've had even 1 kid like him, you won't get it.
Grunter is *more* laid back and I'm very thankful for that!
Neither one are kids that stay near mommy when outside and they don't need to be near each other either. Mostly, they run in the exact opposite direction. I run non-stop damage control!
All my "mom" friends are in agreement about W2, he is like a smiley tornado tearing through. He plows over anything in his way in order to get what he wants. He had his first outside temper tantrum yesterday over another kid's toy. His emotions are so intense. He gets so focused on ONE thing. Distraction means nothing to him.
I worry about Grunter not getting enough attention from me and try so hard to get the balance right.
They are a blast (overall) and everyday spent with them is amazing. This age is exhausting for me, but so much fun, too!
I have so much more I want to write, but not much time these days.
Chicken has been traveling some (4 days in Chicago, 3 coming up to SF), and I'll be solo. It's crazy hard, but incredibly rewarding at the end of the day to know that I did it all by myself. I thought for so long I couldn't, but I really can and I am.
(but I'd still like a little p/t help before I collapse!)

I may not have twins, but I believe you 100%. I just have one little tornado, and she alone is hard enough to keep up with without another person's help. Much respect from this corner.
You are a twin super mom! I am cheering for you and hoping you get a little help soon:)
I've been doing it alone since my boys were 2 months. They just turned 1, and it is exhausting... but at the same time, a wonderful feeling knowing that you can do it alone!! Still, I start work part time in Septe\1ber2 and i WOULD LO014-1260-9454E A PArt time nanny. and a baby who doesn't use my keyboard while i tyPE
I have one toddler-non-stop-tornado-boy and I cannot imagine. chunk rarely stops for 3 minutes so I cannot imagine two of him. This is such a hard age and you are a rock star. I am exhausted from the time I pick him up from daycare (4pm) and his bedtime at 7pm because it is go-go-go and I have to feed us in the process! When chicken gets back, you deserve a massage!
There wasn't a completely agree 100% button so I had to comment :)
They sound just like my first set. Cam was the one who was a little more laid back.
This second set is worse than the first two put together. BOTH OF THEM.
My mom says that she doesn't think I'll survive them. I think we can both prove them wrong :)
maybe.
Just do what you can. It's not a competition against the moms with 1 baby. (especially those bastards who have super easy going well behaved stand right by you kind of singletons...yeah I hate them, ha ha ha and by hate I mean I'm just slightly extremely jealous)
My wife is a teacher and today is her first day of summer. I called to check in earlier and she said "I have no idea how the sitter does this...LG has more energy in 10 minutes than I have all day"...So, my one 11 month old can exhaust her two moms...I imagine your twins could exhaust 17!
Yup, twins are hard stuff, mr went away for a week with work and I wanted to crawl in a hole when it was over, but, again I try and make life easy on myself, journies only in strollers, no wondering and I got two monkey leash things today for when they want to walk with me, we see how that will work. I have never had a nanny or a babysitter, so I have no idea what it would be like to have the help, but I also have b/g twins, one wild child and one not as wild.
It is worth it!
We're not at this stage yet, but at a few days shy of 5 months, I'm still pretty terrified to handle the two of them alone for the day. Both of us have only ever had them alone for a few hours at a time. Come September, we are in for a huge shock and I'm really dreading it! Sounds like you are doing great though babe!
Oh I get you and I also think you're a rock star :)
Wild kids are fun but exhausting!
what's happening with the nanny search? How did the interviews go?
I knew you could/can do it, Puffer! And yes, on top if being a singleton, Austin was easily redirected and though you wouldn't guess it now, totally risk-averse.
